Love in Bloom: Celebrating the Wedding of Merrill McLaughlin and Brock Hessing III

In celebration of the first wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Brock Hessing III, Wicked Pony Ranch is reflecting back on the couple’s June 4, 2022 ceremony.

Merrill McLaughlin and Brock Hessing III exchanged vows at one of the most popular sites at Wicked Pony Ranch–the Field Arbor. As the couple’s wedding ushered in the beginning of the summer wedding season, love was in full bloom. Vibrant summer sunflowers and whimsical daisies magnified the country chic beauty of the Field Arbor’s classic wooden backdrop and scenic landscape.

The Bride Wore Boots

McLaughlin wore a floral lace mermaid gown with a plunging sweetheart neckline and a tulle chapel-length train edged and accented with floral details. The bride found her perfect dress at Clarice Bridal Fashions. For her ‘something blue,’ McLaughlin wore brown leather cowgirl boots with turquoise embroidered details. Posh Beauty Company styled McLaughlin’s hair to fall naturally with the sides arranged in soft, loose plaits. McLaughlin carried a bouquet of sunflowers, daisies, bluebells, and classic greenery.

The Wedding Colors: Cerulean Blue and Gray

The groom wore dark-wash denim pants, a white dress shirt, and a gray vest. His groomsmen wore matching dark-wash denim and button-down gray dress shirts to match the groom’s vest.

McLaughlin’s attendants wore cerulean chiffon gowns in various styles. They carried bouquets of sunflowers, daisies, and greenery. Each bridesmaid received a personalized floral tote bag to commemorate the day.

The Reception: Upscale Country Cuisine and a Decadent Dessert Table

After McLaughlin and Hessing exchanged vows, they celebrated their reception with friends and family at the Wicked Pony Ranch Saloon. Each guest table included a framed picture of the couple. Table linens were supplied by JMC.

Guests dined on upscale country classic cuisine, including bacon-wrapped chicken kabobs. In lieu of the traditional wedding cake, the couple cut into a chocolate cake drizzled with chocolate icing from Miss B Bakery; the cake topper featured the couple and their pets. Guests chose from many different sweet temptations at the dessert table. The options included lemon bars, oreo truffles, cupcakes (cherry cheesecake, carrot cake, red velvet, and gluten-free vanilla), Mason jar-shaped sugar cookies decorated with an iced monogram H and sunflower, gooey butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies, M&M cookies, chocolate chip cannoli, and traditional cannoli.

Guests danced the night away to music from Riverview Entertainment. In addition, cornhole games offered guests and their children an outdoor entertainment option. At the reception, guests were encouraged to complete a Date Night card with suggestions for dates and outings for the happy couple.

Congratulations, Merrill and Brock!
